V naší práci prezentujeme soubor 17 pacientů s leptomeningeálním metastatickým postižením, kteří byli hospitalizováni na neurologické klinice FNsP Ostrava v letech 1995 až 2001. Diagnóza leptomeningeální metastatické infiltrace byla stanovena cytologickým vyšetřením likvoru s průkazem maligních buněk a zobrazovacím vyšetřením nervového systému za použití výpočetní tomografie a magnetické rezonance. V naší práci se zamýšlíme nad výtěžností jednotlivých diagnostických metod, jejich vzájemném doplnění a důležitosti pro stanovení diagnózy. Z pozorování je zřejmé, že prioritní roli hraje kvalitativní cytologické vyšetření likvoru a správné zhodnocení kvantitativní cytologie a biochemického vyšetření mozkomíšního moku.
