Epilepsie se záchvaty vycházejícími ze suplementární motorické arey je relativně vzácný epileptický syndrom s bizarními klinickými projevy. Mezi hlavní charakteristiky patří tonický charakter záchvatů, častá vazba na spánek, zachovalé vědomí i při oboustranném klinickém motorickém postižení, krátké trvání záchvatů a často neprůkazný elektroencefalografický (EEG) nález interiktálně. Pro své neobvyklé charakteristiky bývají záchvaty často pokládány za neepileptické. Při časté rezistenci na léčbu jsou pak častým zdrojem polypragmazie, která může být pro pacienta větší zátěží než epileptický syndrom samotný.
