V článku jsou shrnuty současné poznatky a léčebné postupy po prodělané akutní ischemické cévní mozkové příhodě (ischemickém iktu) nebo tranzitorní ischemické atace (TIA). Jsou uvedeny možnosti medikamentózní sekundární prevence, která je nezbytná a indikace chirurgické sekundární prevence. Je hodnocen význam léčby hypertenze po iktu inhibitory ACE, možný přínos statinů pro prevenci iktů a současné indikace nootropik. V oddílu užitečné farmakoterapie je diskutován přínos tzv. vazoaktivních léků, zejména naftidrofurylu, jeho indikace a oprávněnost podávání.
