V článku je diskutována bolest v oblasti obličeje, je navrhována nová klasifikace kraniálních neuralgií. Nejčastěji se jedná o neuralgie trigeminu. Článek se věnuje etiologii, popisu záchvatů, diagnostice i možnostem léčby jak medikamentózní, tak chirurgické. Dále jsou popsány i ostatní typy neuralgií - neuralgie glossopharyngeu, syndrom temporomandibulárního skloubení i ostatní vzácněji se vyskytující neuralgie. Závěr je věnován diferenciální diagnostice.
