Opísaná je exkluzívna paroxyzmálna neuropsychiatrická entita - panická porucha, ktorej svojrázny klinický obraz, neznáma etiologia (s náznakom genetickej predispozície), výnimočne pútavá, ale zložitá patogenéza, menovite však relatívne vysoká incidencia nabádajú k jej dôkladnejšej explorácii vo viacerych odboroch (najmä psychiatrii, neurologii a internej medicíne). Načrtnutá je nevšedná komorbidita s rôznorodými chorobnými stavmi. Článok stručne podává súčasný patogenický výklad a poukazuje na diferenciálne - diagnostické úskalia a pertraktované liečebné možnosti.
